Obituary for Rev. Steven Wayne Bumgarner Reverend Steven Wayne Bumgarner, age 60, of Taylorsville passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at his residence. He was born on March 20, 1958 in Alexander County to Donald Houston and Janie Bumgarner Sprinkle.

He was the pastor of Oakwood Baptist Church for ten years Steven formerly worked for jobs from Trio’s Super Market and Feimsters – Sherill’s Apple Orchards. He was a devoted member at Liledoun Baptist Church. In his free time Steven enjoyed taking care of his vegetable and flower gardens, fishing, and talking with his pastor friends about the word of God.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Arthur and Fannie Bumgarner, and several aunts and uncles. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years; Cynthia Louise Fisher Bumgarner, his father and mother; Donald and Janie Sprinkle, father and mother in law; Cainie and Pat Bumgarner, aunt; Donna Rhyne and husband Chris, four nieces and nephews, with several cousins. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Little River Baptist Church from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with the Revs. Jeff Chapman, Tanner Mundy, Eddie Jolly. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Watts, Cory Winkler, A.J. Langley, Brian Blackwelder, Noah Jolly, and Thomas Bumgarner. The family would like to give a special thank you to Iredell Home and Health and Hospice of Iredell County. In lieu of flowers all donations may be made to Home Health of Iredell County at 541 Gaither Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
