OBITUARY Rex N Savage June 2, 1933 – September 10, 2018 Rex Nelson Savage, beloved husband of Jo Ann Savage, died on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Novant Health-Charlotte. Born on June 2, 1933 in Muncie, Indiana, he was the son of the late Nelson and Bula Savage. After high school graduation, Rex served as an MP in the US Army.

Following his service duty, he began working on his degree in education. He attended Pheiffer, Appalachian State and University of North Carolina. His graduate degree work in administration was through Appalachian State and UNC.

Rex was a teacher in CMS schools before becoming a principal. He was a principal at Enderly Park, Allenbrook and Lansdowne. He retired after 31 years of service to CMS.

His greatest love was for his family. He treasured time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed time at the beaches in Florida and NC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 12 at noon. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Savage will follow at 1pm at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Road. Survivors include his loving wife, Jo Ann and one sister, Nancy Rayhill of Indianapolis, IN.

He is survived by two sons; Rex Savage and his wife, Jenny of Matthews, NC and Mark Savage and his wife, Marian of Rockingham, NC; daughter Lisa Savage Hatley of Matthews, NC; five grandchildren Crystal Manoharan of Charleston, SC; Chad Hatley of Boonville, NC; Erica Savage of Washington, DC; Nicole Savage of Raleigh, NC and Caroline Savage of Wilmington, NC and great grandchild, Adonijah Rex Manoharan of Charleston, SC.
