Richard, who was one of eight children, was born on October 13, 1948 in Holly Hill, FL to Mary Gulledge and Walter H. Roberts. On September 27, 1969, he married his beloved high school sweetheart, Rebecca “Becky” Jane Roberts, with whom he spent 49 loving years, raising one daughter together, Dawn Michelle Anderson.
