Richard’s Obituary Richard “Dicky” Anthony Martinez, 55, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on February 13, 2019. He had a short battle with cancer, but he never complained because of his strong faith in the Catholic Church that made him realize God would calling him home soon. Dicky always made sure to reserve the church for anniversary masses, months ahead of time for relative’s anniversary of when they left to be with our Lord.

He was very dependable during Mass, helping when needed with ushering and collection. He also loved to take care of his mom’s plants and trees. He was so proud when the datelis (Chinese apples), oranges, lemons and grapefruit trees ripen.

He would pick them and give to his cousins and anyone who wanted some. Dicky was a big horse lover and was also a trainer. He wanted to go to Las Vegas just to be able to bet on the horse races.

He did get to fulfill that dream last Thanksgiving. Dicky was born June 27, 1963 to Mercy Guillen Martinez and Carlos Martinez. He attended Davis Elementary School, John Spring Junior High and Tucson High School.

He is survived by his sons, Michael and Eddie Martinez; daughters Melissa and Vanessa Martinez; sisters, Lil Salazar, Patricia Martinez, Linda Martinez and Christina Fritz (Brian); brother, Leonard Martinez (Valerie); half brother Charlie Martinez. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Terry Romero. Dicky had 14 grandchild and 2 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

he is preceded in death by his brother, Carlos “Charlie” Martinez. He will be missed by all those whose hearts he touched.
