Richard B. Farris, 86 of Scottdale, died Monday morning, February 25, 2019, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family at his side. He was born March 11, 1932 in Monarch, the Son of the late John and Mary Zerecheck Farris. He was a faithful member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R. C. Church, Scottdale.

He was a retired Tool and Die Setter for Anchor Hocking Cap Corp. , South Connellsville, with 34 years of service. He was also a member of Local Union No.

188. Following his retirement he drove bus for Joseph Konetsco Inc. for a number of years. Richard was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1949.

He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War with HQ. HQ. Company 23rd Infantry Regiment.

He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation and attained the Rank of Corporal. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Evelyn I. Koval Farris whom he married October 29, 1955. His loving Children Catherine M. Farris And Richard G. Farris and Georgia L. Keffer all of Scottdale A Granddaughter Kristin M. Gamon and Husband Johnathan of Mt.

Pleasant Two Sisters Evelyn Geary of Uniontown Dolores Painley of Ohio And a number of Nieces and Nephews In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by 11 siblings Rita Ohler Mary Louise Borobish Veronica Burncheck Genevieve Kalfut Betty Mihok Irene Sipe Cecelia Farris John, Paul, Frank and Will Farris. Family and friends of Richard are cordially invited to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM. , where Parting Prayers will be held Friday at 10:30 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R. C. Church, Scottdale, with his Pastor, Rev.

Andrew M. Kawecki, as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John Parish Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be accorded at the Funeral Home, Thursday at 6:30 PM by the Southmoreland Veterans Association Honor Guard.

A Parish wake service will be held Thursday at 7:45 PM in the Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Excela Home Healthcare and Hospice, especially Daryann and Tammy for their exemplary Care , love and compassion for Richard and his family. The Funeral Home doors will be locked between visitation hours on Thursday.
