Richard “Dick” Lemon, 84, of rural Aledo, Illinois passed away at home on Sunday, February 10, 2019. Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 13th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14th at United Methodist Church, Viola with Pastor Terry Evans officiating. Pallbearers are Aaron Lemon, Jamy Anderson, Josh Barton, Jessica Plunkett, Rusty Plunkett and Lacy Beydler.

Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Memorials may be left for Viola United Methodist Church or Viola Fire Department. Richard Clair Lemon was born July 5, 1934 at home in rural Aledo, the son of Clair and Doris Mellinger Lemon.

Dick graduated from Aledo High School in 1952. On April 8, 1956, he married Evelyn Burns in Aledo. Dick worked at the Shale City Brickyard.

He then went on to work as the service manager at Henderson Ford in Aledo for 27 years, retiring in 1996. For many years, he ran the family farm. Dick was a dedicated member of Viola United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Methodist Men and served as the Ad Council Chairman for 10 years.

In his free-time he enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with his tractors. Dick was a collector… especially International Harvester/Farmall tractors and antique tools. He enjoyed displaying and attending the Viola Threshers Reunion.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years: Evelyn Lemon of Aledo, IL; children: Steven (Kathy) Lemon of Aledo, IL, Lisa (Jay) Barton of Viola, IL and Tracy Rader of Crowley, TX; grandchildren: Aaron (Angie) Lemon, Josh (Jennifer) Barton, Lacy Beydler, Jamy (Chris) Anderson, Jessica (Rusty) Plunkett and Evan (Courtney) Cunningham; great grandchildren: Brenden Beydler, Cameron and Kinley Anderson, Landin Kinder, Lyvia Barton, Hadley and Emry Lemon and Collin Plunkett and several nieces and nephews.
