Obituary for Richard F. “Dick” Gregory Richard F. (Dick) Gregory, age 82, of Powell, Ohio, passed away June 26, 2018 at home with family by his side. He was born on September 7, 1935, in Granville, Ohio, to the late Michael and Thelma Gregory. Dick was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Gregory and Donald Gregory.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife Lynnette, step-children Michelle Esty (Mike) and Christopher Creighton, grandchildren, Taylor Esty and Emily Esty, and great-granddaughter Nova Grace Lewis, nieces Daphne Baldwin (Dan), Terian Johnston, nephews Eric Gregory (Rhonda), Paul Gregory, Thad Gregory, and many lifelong friends. After graduating Granville High School, Dick went to Ohio Wesleyan University where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. Dick graduated in 1957 and started his career in Granville, Ohio at Gregory Hardware.
During that time he served as Mayor of Granville, Executive Director of United Way, and many other service positions. After Gregory Hardware closed he became a stockbroker and provided weekly stock reports on NBC Chanel 4 and WBNS radio. He retired from Prudential Securities in 1999.
Dick was a member of First Community Church where he served as deacon and on multiple committees. He was an enthusiastic Ohio State Buckeyes fan who enjoyed hosting family and friends at his tailgate parties. Dick was an avid golfer, a member of Wedgewood Country Club, where he treasured his time on the course with special friends.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 6, 2018, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 W.
