Richard Herbert Schwartz, 1933-2018, passed away on July 18th at the age of 84. Richard is survived by his beloved brother Clifford (Anita) and sister Nancy (William) Goodmon, five nieces and nephews and their families. Richard was born in Chicago but lived most of his life in Franklin Park.

He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Chemistry. Upon graduation, he immediately went to work for a local food company, for whom he worked his entire career before retiring in 1996. His career was interrupted for 2 years by the draft in the U.S. Army.

Much of his Army career was spent in school, but he also spent a year in West Germany across the border from East Germany during the Cold War. Never married, he helped raise the children of his sister Dorothy who preceded him in death. A truly brilliant, modest and gentle man who was always there when needed.

Visitation Monday, July 23, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 12 Noon at Cuneo-Columbian Funeral Home, 10300 W. Grand Ave. (1 blk east of Mannheim Road) Franklin Park, IL. Interment Mt.
