Richard J. Smith of Union Beach, NJ and a West Brighton, Staten Island, New York native passed away on January 4, 2019 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ. He had just celebrated his 63rd birthday. He was born in Staten Island, New York January 2, 1956.

Richard graduated Sacred Heart School and Moore Catholic High School class of 1975. He joined the US Army in 1976 and served in the 82 Airborne, Fort Bragg, N.C. Upon his return he married his high school sweetheart,Connie Allotta in 1984. While on Staten Island he worked at Holland Hook Terminal.

Richard worked for CEI (Cosmetic Essence Company), Holmdel, New Jersey, as a Supervisor in the Chemical Compounding Department for many years before retiring. He moved to Union Beach, New Jersey in 1989. Richard was predeceased by his parents James F. and Margaret (Meehan) Smith, his brothers Eddie, Billy and Bobby Smith and his father in law Peter Allotta.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Connie (Allotta) Smith, his loving children Sean Michael Smith and his wife Shannon, Laura Ann Smith of Union Beach, his dear brothers and sisters, James Smith, Peggy Whiteside, Tom Smith, Raymond Smith, Jack Smith, Mary Elizabeth Smith and his dear mother in law Mary Ann Allotta.
