Richard J. Reuschling, age 98 of E. Walnut St., Jefferson, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his residence. He was born August 3, 1919 in Cleveland, the son of Fred L. & Effie F. (Wagner) Reuschling. He served proudly in the United States Army under the 509th Paratroopers in WWII.

He worked as a lineman and later a PBX for Alltel Telephone Company. While a resident of Ashtabula County he owned several businesses, and worked for All Points Travel in Bradenton, FL. He was a strong Democrat and involved in politics in both Ashtabula County, OH and Manatee County, FL.

Additionally, he was the Democratic Chairman for Manatee County, FL for many years. He also loved traveling, and enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Warren DiBell of Bradenton FL, Janet (Michael) Gouhin of Flagstaff AZ, Patricia Duva of Ashtabula, Judi (Gary) Ferguson of Austinburg, Keith DiBell of Brandenton FL, Malissia Briggs of Willington OH; a brother, Donald (Martha) Reuschling of Jefferson; 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two former wives, Lorraine Reuschling and Margurite “Peg” Reuschling; a daughter, Nansi Nichols; two sons, Robert Reuschling in infancy and Kenny DiBell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred & Florice Reuschling and Robert & Virginia Reuschling; granddaughter, Autumn Ferguson; grandson, Jimmy DiBell; and great-granddaughter, Brittney Hall. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00 A. M. at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Fr. John Ettinger of St. Joseph’s Calasanctius Church officiating.

Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:00-11:00 A. M. at the Jefferson Home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) National Headquarters, 406 W. 34th St., Kansas City, MO 64111.
