Richard J. Stanley AuGres, Michigan Richard James Stanley, 78, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born July 26, 1940 in Sterling, Michigan to the late Shirley and Edna (Daniels) Stanley. Richard married Dianna Zawacki September 26, 1959 in Standish, Michigan.

He was a boilermaker welder at Dow Chemical for 27 years and a proud… Read More » member of United Steelworkers Local 12075 until his retirement in 1994. He was a volunteer fireman with Gibson Township Fire Dept. for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making maple syrup, woodworking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Special thanks to family caregivers and a special thanks to Compassus Hospice for all their support. Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dianna and their 3 children: Dan (Jolyn) Stanley, Dave (Del) Stanley and Deana (Chuck) Garry.

He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Laura, Lisa, Anna, Sara, Aimee, Nikole and Whitney and 3 great grandchildren: Everett, Jacob and Gavin. Richard is survived by 3 brothers; Larry (Jan) Stanley, Leonard (Judy) Stanley and Louis (Michelle) Stanley. He was pre-deceased by 1 brother, Gary Stanley.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, Standish, Michigan with the Rev. Fr. David Parsch officiating.

Cremation will follow. Richard will lie-instate at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church from 9:00 am Saturday, January 12, 2019 until time of Mass at 11:00 am. Those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Compassus Hospice in lieu of flowers.
