Richard John Pietrzak, age 57, of Cannon Falls, died Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Cannon Falls. He was born on April 16, 1961 in St. Paul, the son of Henry and Herta (Meingust) Pietrzak. Rich grew up in the Randolph area, graduating from Randolph High School in 1979.

He attended Inver Hills Community College. Rich and Karla’s love story began at the age of 15 and on June 16, 1984, they were married at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. He worked as a Shift Manager at Bergquist/Henkel and also as a Dam Operator at the Byllesby Dam for the last 27 years.

Rich was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. He liked fishing, taking care of his lawn and doing snow removal. Mostly, Rich loved to help people; he was a very generous person with his time, his money, and his heart.

As the son of immigrant parents, he spoke fluent German and Polish. He was a dog lover and dogs, in turn, loved him too. Rich had a pilot’s license and enjoyed flying for pleasure.

The highlight of his life and his pride and joy was his daughter Sarah. Survivors include his wife Karla, daughter Sarah, brother Stan (Denise) Pietrzak, sister Barbara (Dave) Nelson, niece Tina Nelson, nephews Matthew Pietrzak and Aaron (Danielle) Nelson, as well as great nieces and great-nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his parents his brother Hank Pietrzak, sister Christina Pietrzak, and his father-in-law Reuben Murray.

A memorial visitation for Rich will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 4-7:00 pm at the Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd. , Cannon Falls, MN 55009. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
