Richard Martin Urbaniak, long time resident of Walnut Creek, lost his fight with cancer at the age of 61 on Dec 20th, 2018. Richard was very outgoing who loved meeting new people. This trait made him the perfect salesperson in the jewelry business for more than 25 years.

In his spare time Richard enjoyed traveling, gardening, listening to his books on tape, taking his dogs to the dog park on weekends and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by his 4 dogs: Humbug, Mei Mei, Lola and Jasmine who rule the household. Richard’s favorite holiday was Christmas and his elaborate Christmas display will be missed by many.

Richard is survived by his life partner of 30 years Mathew Minshull, Step-Mother LaVonne Urbaniak, step-brother Keith Persons, step-sister Debra (Jeffrey) Westbrook, nieces: Amber (Richard) Wristen, Andrea (Drew) Miller, Katelyn (Dustin) Martin and 6 great nephews and nieces. He was pre-deceased by his parents Richard T. Urbaniak , Helen E. Urbaniak and brother Gary Urbaniak. Thank you to our friends, neighbors, family and the staff at San Ramon Regional Medical Center for their help and support during Richards illness.

Interment will be private at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, CA. A celebration of life will be held after the holidays. In lieu of flowers, Richard would appreciate donations to ARF(donate@arflife.org) in support of their lifeline fund.
