Obituary for Rick Inman Inman, Rick of Glendale, age 60, died in a car accident November 28, 2018. Rick was born on May 15, 1958, in Milwaukee, to Bob and Bonnie Inman. He met his wife, Lori, while working with her on the Shorewood High School newspaper.
Rick enjoyed classic jazz, opera, movies, theater, books, books, and more books. Sundays meant Latin Mass, followed by leading the Packers to victory with rounds of Brandy Old Fashioneds (he still takes credit for Super Bowl XLV). Rick worked many years for the US Postal Service and prided himself on knowing the ins and outs of the Domestic Mail Manual.
He was a habitual library patron, and we would like to thank the wonderful North Shore Library staff. The neighborhood knew when he had arrived home, due to the volume of the music coming from his car. Rick was an avid fan of the economist Henry George.
If you wanted to start a long conversation, you could, basically, ask him any question, but one sure to do the trick would be, “How do you think property should be taxed? ” He could never figure out the better way to spend an afternoon in an art museum: three hours on one painting or the entire building in one fell swoop. He loved to dance.
Rick was the chef for a family of seven. None of his children is a picky eater, but none enjoys organ meats as much as he did. He would not let people go outside to smoke.
He was the smartest man you would ever meet. He could have pursued his love of arts professionally, but instead he chose to tackle a greater cause: his children. They remember being read their favorite books; being taught how to score non-American League baseball games; going to midnight movies in Chicago; spending many a weekend at the 41 outdoor drive-in theater; Eudora and Pop versus the family Trivial Pursuit (Dora always won); going to The Big Lebowski and being horrified by Pop’s vigorous laughter (because they were 10 and 12); him sandpapering their faces with his whiskers just before shaving; his movie index which was more thorough than IMDB; and his martinis initially being shaken with as little vermouth as possible and evolving into 4:1, stirred with a dash of orange bitters in a coupe.
Rick will be missed by his wife of 37 years, Lori; his children Flannery (Tom) Moore, Ariel (Peter) Budnik, Austin (Alisha), Anselm (Abby), and Eudora; his grandchildren Cecilia, Lucia, Dorian, Serafina, Miranda, Cyprian, Misha, Estelle, Thomas, and Casimir. He is survived by his father, Bob, and his siblings Debbie, Todd, Tim, Blake, and Bridget. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie, and his sister, Becky.
