OBITUARY Rickey Joe Townsend June 5, 1959 – July 12, 2018 Play Tribute Movie With a loving heart we honor a great man. Rickey Joe Townsend, native of Poplarville, Mississippi and resident of Prairieville, LA. Today, July 12, 2018 he is dancing with the angels and family members that precede him.

Rickey was a wonderful husband, father, pops, brother and friend. He never met a stranger. His humor was never ending and his love for his family was undeniable.

Rickey was a 1978 graduate from East Ascension High School. Through the years he was employed at Department of Energy, American Iron Reduction and later retired from his family owned business Wall Décor and More Interiors. Rickey loved watching sports, traveling and was a civil war enthusiast.

He also enjoyed making memories with his family at his hunting camp in Wisner, LA. Rickey is survived by his wife of 35 years Mia Morvant Townsend; children Christopher Ryan Townsend (Leigh), Justin Boyd Townsend (Jackie), Alexis Lynn Whittington and Andrew Joe Townsend. Eight grandchildren; Brycen Dubroc, Tucker, Easton and Caleb Townsend, Wyatt and Sadie Townsend, Kinley and Dylan Kate Whittington.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Otis Townsend; mother, Willa Parker Townsend and father, Ray Townsend. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 9AM until service at 11AM. A reception will follow at Ourso Funeral Home.
