Rita Elaine Edwards January 11, 1952 – December 29, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Mrs. Rita Elaine Sawyer Edwards, age 66 of Peterman, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Monroe County Hospital. Mrs. Edwards, a lifelong resident of Monroe County, was a graduate of Excel High School and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Mrs. Edwards had worked with Alabama River Pulp as an equipment operator and she was also a licensed cosmetologist.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Klein Preston Sawyer, Sr. and Gwendolyn Hall Biggs and her husband Robert Lester “Bobby” Edwards. Survivors include her son, Jason (Amber) Tomlinson of Excel, AL; two daughters, Brandi (Jonathan) Haddox of Mexia, AL and Maggie (Ben) Tuberville of Peterman, AL; two step-sons, Robert (Casey) Edwards of Bolivia, NC and James (Georgia) Edwards of Bolivia, NC; one brother, Klein Preston Sawyer, Jr. of Excel; one sister, Rhonda Woodfin of the Maiben Lake Community; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev.

Cornelius Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
