Obituary for Robbie Lee Bird Robbie Lee Stewart Pyle Bird was born January 19th, 1937, in Goose Creek, Texas. She was the oldest daughter of Malcolm Red Stewart and Marcelayne Elfman Platzer. Robbie was named after the famed General Robert E. Lee.

She had two sisters, Elayne Stewart and Melanie Stewart Pace. She grew up in Baytown, Texas, where history remembers her as a beautiful child, who grew up to be honored as the very first Duchess of the Cotton Bowl Ball at Texas A&M University. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1955.

Then Robbie attended Victoria College, where she majored in history. In 1958, she married Lt. Col.

Wesley Pyle. They had four children. Malcolm Pyle, Tammy Quinn, Mitzie Katzen and Kollen Pyle.

She was an extraordinary military wife. They were stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, followed by Ft. Benning, Georgia, and Ft.

Hood, Texas. Robbie and Wes returned to South Houston to raise their children close to extended family. They remained together for 33 years.

Robbie was blessed with three wonderful sons-in-law, Alan Katzen, Carroll L. Quinn III, and Richard Snoddy, along with a beautiful daughter-in-law, Jennifer Pyle. In 1992, Robbie married Ross Bird. They shared their lives until his passing in June of 2014.

Through Ross, she added four more children (and their families) to love: Tanya Bird Snoddy and her husband, Richard; Alan Bird; and Paige Bird Louie. Ross and Robbie loved to dance and travel. They built a cabin in Divide, Colorado and a home with a two-story barn in Azle, Texas.

After moving into the Boling Ranch neighborhood, Robbie and Ross joined Silver Creek United Methodist Church. Robbie was mostly referred to as Robbie Doll by her 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. One of Robbie’s most interesting ventures was owning and operating a fantastic catering business called Simply Scrumptious, where she baked 200 apple pies for a single event.

She worked at an office supply store, and a maintenance supply company. She worked the longest for Roger King at his investment firm. Robbie’s love of the Lord always shined.

She made clear her intentions to live by His word. She was a founding member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class at Park Place United Methodist Church in Houston, where she attended services for decades. Robbie went to be with the Lord on December 13th, 2018.

Robbie Lee Bird was preceeded in death by her parents, Malcolm Stewart and Marcelayne Platzer; Wesley Pyle; her son-in-law, Carroll Quinn; her husband, Ross Bird and daughter Paige Louie. She is survived by many others and their spouses, including: two sisters, Elayne Stewart and Melanie Pace; 6 children, Malcolm Pyle, Tammy Quinn, Mitzie Katzen, Kollen Pyle, Tanya Snoddy, and Alan Bird; 4 sons/daughters-in-law: Alan Katzen, Carrol Quinn, Richard Snoddy, and Jennifer Pyle; a nephew and a niece: Eric Whitney and Marcey Whitney; 6 great nephews and nieces: Ashley, Grace, Abby, Eli, Farris, and Miles: 18 grandchildren: Tiffany Layne Prestridge, Courtney Harris, Miranda Tolle, Porter Snow, Joy Hurst, Jeanne Brown, Landon Snow; Arie, Karis, and Ezrie Katzen; Christopher and Kathryn Elayne Pyle; Heath, Hayden, Holden, and Julia Coty; Colby and Alex Bird; 21 great grandchildren: Hannah, Dylan, Tucker, Trenton, Jordan, Jayden, and Kailynn, Josh, Laynee, Sarah, Madeleine, Gabriella, Samuel, Evangeline, Tyler, Baird, Hope, Annabelle, Penny, Aria, and Nils; 2 great great granddaughters: Presley and Charlee.
