Robert Allen Batchelor passed away February 11, 2019 at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eudelle Batchelor and siblings, William L. Batchelor, Eugene Barnes and Patricia Lovell. Robert entered the service on April 21, 1966.

He served for 37 years and retired as First Sergant with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 131st Aviation Regiment, Hope Hull, Alabama. He received the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Purple Heart, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Veteran’s Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Overseas Service Bars with Numeral “2”, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal with “Valor” D, Senior Aircraft Crewmember Badge, Air Medal as well as completed the First Sergeant Academy and a variety of schools and several additional awards. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brenda Batchelor; children, David (Jennifer) Batchelor, Jennifer (John) Chandler and Joshua Batchelor; grandchildren, Aaron Batchelor, McKinley Chandler, Michael Chandler, Malachi Chandler, Matthew Chandler and Meganne Chandler; brothers, Thomas (Marquet) Batchelor, Darrell Batchelor and John (Evie) Barnes and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, February 18, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Alabama on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. If attending the committal service, please be in the cemetery no later than 12:15 p.m. Pallbearers will be David Batchelor, Joshua Batchelor, John Chandler, Keith Colley, Fred Simmon and Heath Goodwin.

The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, you may make memorial donations to Wounded Warrior Project; 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300 , Jacksonville, FL 32256.
