Obituary for Robert “Bob” Edward Cloninger Robert “Bob” Edward Cloninger, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills-Landrum. Born December 2, 1921, in Edgefield, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Dewey Cloninger and Mary Eva McClendon Cloninger and husband of the late Lois Walker Cloninger. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Cloninger loved to tinker with machinery and maintain a nice garden…tomatoes being his specialty.

He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, a member of Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (now Skylyn Drive Presbyterian Church) and retired from Draper Corporation after 44 years of service. Survivors include his son, William “Billy” E. Cloninger (Debra) of Simpsonville, SC; sister, Cora Cloninger Walker Smith of the home; nephews, Phillip “Phil” E. Walker (Patty) of Spartanburg, SC and David Walker of Cliffside, NC; great nieces and nephew, Katie Walker, Karen Walker, Nathan Walker (Casey); and great-great-niece, Olivia Walker, all of Spartanburg, SC. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. Peter A. Waid, with military rites and committal at the Chapel. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
