Obituary for Robert “Bob” Veazey Robert “Bob” Veazey, 84 of Madisonville, KY entered heaven’s gate Friday, April 27, 2018 at his residence in Madisonville. He was born October 22, 1933 in Madisonville, to the late Amos Veazey and Elizabeth Hubbert Hogart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Bob was a member of Grapevine Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from being a heavy equipment operator and coal miner after 42 years. He enjoyed working and helping people and working in his yard.
Bob loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan Veazey; three daughters, Belinda (Dr. Forrest) Hanke of Madisonville, Lisa (Jerry) Green of Benton, KY and April (Mark) Rager of Madisonville; one sister, Sondra Veazey of Hopkinsville, KY; two brothers, Ron (Sandra) Hogart of Madisonville and Dan (Carol) Veazey of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Chasidy (Chris) Crick, Brandon (Krista) Hanke, Tiffany (Mack) Combs, Tyler Rager and Sydney, and Baylee Rager; six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 1 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Morrison officiating.
Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville. Military Graveside rites will be conducted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday and from 12:00 P.M. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Rager, Brandon Hanke, Brad England, Mike Joiner, Chris Crick, and Mark Rager. Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Combs and Charles Smiley. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grapevine Baptist Church Building Fund.
