Robert “Bob” Ward Taylor of Hilton Head Island, SC, formerly of Cincinnati, passed away on June 23, 2018, on Hilton Head Island. He was 96 years old. He was born March 23, 1922 in Pontiac, Michigan to his parents Clara and Ward Taylor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty and his children Barbara McMahon (George) of Atlanta and Robert W. Taylor, Jr. (Sally) of Cincinnati. He had two grandchildren, Catherine and Sarah Taylor both of Cincinnati. He was preceded in death by his wife Joanne Muller and his wife Lois McCarthy.

Bob moved to Cincinnati with his mother when he was 3 years old, growing up in the Walnut Hills and Hyde Park areas. He attended Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati where he was an honor student and a standout varsity baseball player. He graduated from The University of Cincinnati and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.

He earned his degree from UC’s College of Engineering. Mid way through his time at UC, he joined the US Army fighting in WWII, where he was stationed in various bases in Italy. On March 12, 1945 he was taken POW by the Germans, captured in Aversa Italy.

He was later released upon the surrender of Germany in late April of that same year. While serving in the Army, he was decorated with The Bronze Star. After he was discharged from the Army, he returned to University of Cincinnati to complete his studies.

Upon graduation from UC, he joined The H.C. Nutting Co as an engineer where he spent his entire career. He rose to the office of Vice President at Nutting Co. Bob was a member of numerous philanthropies including The Masons and The Shriners. He was also a longtime member of Coldstream Country Club and served on The Club’s Board of Trustees for a number of years.

Inurnment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
