Robert Carroll Fields, 91, of Newton Grove, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Mr. Fields was born May 30, 1927 in Sampson County to the late Ezra Allen Fields and Hettie Jane Fields. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, Pa and friend.

Mr. Fields was retired and had worked for over 30 years at Circle Appliance Company in Newton Grove, and then was the owner and operator of Fields Appliance Service of Newton Grove. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lela Joyce Fields; daughter, LaRue McConnell of Newton Grove; daughter, Billie Joyce and husband, Dale Pass of Pine Level; and son, Carroll Odean and wife, Rhonda Fields, of Newton Grove; granddaughter, Candace and husband Jonathan Parker of Newton Grove; grandson, Perry Autry of Smithfield; great grandchild, Macon Allen Parker of Newton Grove; sister, Helen Raynor of Newton Grove; brother, Cecil and wife JoAnne Fields of Newton Grove; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at West & Dunn Funeral Home, Newton Grove, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 7, 2018 in the chapel of West & Dunn Funeral Home, Newton Grove, N.C., with the Rev.

Horace Johnson officiating along with Mr. Fields niece, Barbara Burch of Newton Grove. Mr. Fields will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery, Newton Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, N.C. 27577.
