Robert Charles Castagna, 74 of Center Twp. Passed away peacefully on May 6, 2019. He was born September 8, 1944 in Clairton, PA and was the son of the late Dominick and Genevieve (Dolfi) Castagna.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Castagna, two sisters-in-law: Roslyn Castagna and Kim Casoli, a brother-in-law, Donald Casoli and his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Dan and Delphine Casoli. Bob was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Clarion State College and Youngstown State University. He honorably served in the United States Army.

Bob was a math teacher, assistant principal and athletic director at Aliquippa High School for over 28 years. He finished his career in education as a high school principal at both Western Beaver and Montour school districts. Above all, Bob was truly a family man.

His family was the most important part of his life. Spending time with them on vacation, family dinners, sharing special occasions and attending his grandson’s activities were priceless to him. Surviving are his wife Dana (Casoli) Castagna, a daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Ambrose Boni, a son, Dr. Daniel Castagna.

Four grandsons who Bob cherished and adored: Dante Castagna, Ambrose III, Antonio and Angelo Boni. He is also survived by a brother Dominick Castagna, three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Susan and Lenny Keys, Karen Carper, Diane and Ken Suss, David Casoli, a sister-in-law Dolores O’Toole and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 pm and Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc., 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa, 15001 724-375-0496.

Departing prayers will begin Friday at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Frances Cabrini Church. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

The Beaver County Special Unit will perform military honors at the cemetery. A parish Vigil service will be held Thursday at 5:45 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to his favorite charity: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
