Obituary for Robert “Ches” Phillips Mr. Robert Cheston “Ches” Phillips, Jr., age 74 of 6093 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, Ga. , entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville.

Ches was born July 29, 1944 and was the son of the late Mr. Robert Cheston Phillips Sr. and Mrs. Edith Rutherford Phillips Kaminski. He graduated from both Penncrest High School in Media, PA and Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He worked in the electrical business with his father and also on his own.

He also taught electrical construction at Aston Technical School. After his father passed away he took over the family business, then he moved to Georgia with his new wife and two daughters. Ches was a former President of the Gradyville, PA Fire Dept, former President of the Concord Rotary Club, fundraiser and volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Society; he also coached football at Brandywine Rec.

and baseball at Hart County Little League. He also taught Rosary at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He will be remembered by countless people in need to whom he opened his heart and home over the years.

He is survived by his wife Theresa Lynn Murphy Phillips; children, Tracy Phillips Evans (Jeff), Kim Phillips Lyons (Andrew), LeeAnne Phillips Minnick (Jeremy); grandchildren, Jennifer Evans, Michael Evans (Brittany), Mark Evans, Laura Beth Evans, Christopher Lyons, Greyson Lyons; great grandchildren, Hailey Renner, Megan Renner, Phillip Evans, and Ruby Grace Evans. He is preceded in death by his Parents; sister, Sue Anne Phillips Weisenfels and son in law, Jeff Evans. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Hartwell with Father Rafael Castano officiating.

Burial will follow in the garden at Sacred Heart. There will be a Rosary service September 13, 2018, at 5:30 pm at the Coile and Hall Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm following the Rosary.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Tracy Evans, 1490 Will Bailey Road in Hartwell. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1009 Benson Street, Hartwell Ga 30643. The Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell is honored to serve and arrange services for the Phillips Family.
