Robert’s Obituary Robert D. “Bob” Tiller passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2019 in Bodega Bay, California at the age of 84 years. He was the dear husband of Kathleen and the beloved father of Michele and Eric. A native of Carthage, Missouri, Bob was born on a farm.

When Bob was seven years old, his family moved to the East Coast residing briefly in Philadelphia, PA and then Woodbury, New Jersey. Bob was one of five children, including older twin sisters, Irene and Lorene, an older brother, Clyde, and a younger brother, Bill. He is survived by two nieces, Cherie McDaniel and DiAnn Wilson and son.

Bob’s love for golf began at 12 years of age when he was a caddie at the Woodbury Country Club in New Jersey. He later played golf all over the world including playing at a golf course which was adjacent to the pyramids in Egypt. Finally, he satisfied his lifelong dream by playing both the New and Old Courses at Saint Andrews in Scotland.

After graduating from Woodbury High School in New Jersey, Bob graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology of Chicago. Thereafter, he worked for Renner, a company in the electronic industry in Montreal, Canada for two years as an electrical technician. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

After two years, he joined the National Guard in Woodbury, New Jersey while he concurrently worked for General Electric Spacecraft Division in Philadelphia as an electronic engineer for 17 years. While working for General Electric, Bob attended La Salle University in Philadelphia where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electronic Physics. In 1976, Bob transferred to the General Electric Nuclear Division in San Jose, California.

While in California, Bob taught Electronic Physics at Gavilan Junior College, Hartnell Junior College, and Heald College. Bob retired after 34 years of employment with the General Electric Company. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Bodega Bay where he became very active in the Bodega Harbour community.

He enjoyed traveling and gardening subsequently becoming a Master Gardener. For many years, Bob was the chairperson of the BHHA Landscape Committee. Bob was an active member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Bodega and was the chairperson for the St. Teresa’s Restoration Committee.

Over the years, he worked at the St. Philip/St. Teresa Rural Food Program, Bodega Bay Fishermen’s Festival, and Food for Thought in Forestville. Bob enjoyed playing golf with the BHHA Senior Golf Club, but especially loved playing with the “Geezers” in Sebastopol. Bob loved St. Teresa Catholic Church and its special community.

He loved living in Bodega Harbour and cherished his many friends and neighbors. Friends and family are invited to attend a Rosary on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 6:00 pm and a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, March 19th at 10:30 am at St. Teresa’s Church at 17242 Bodega Hwy, Bodega, CA 94922. Private inurnment will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Bodega.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial contributions be made to St. Teresa’s Restoration Fund, P.O. Box 399, Occidental, CA 95465.
