Retired Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Special Agent Robert (Bob) D. Shea, 69, of Aberdeen, NJ peacefully passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He had a distinguished 33 year career with the Bureau. Bob also served 21 years as a Member/Squad Leader of the FBI S.W.A.T.
Team NYC. For his exceptional service he was inducted into The Honor Legion of the Police Department of the City of New York. After retiring from the Bureau in 2000, he started his own investigation company, Rose Associates International, which he ran for 8 years.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane, of Aberdeen who he has been happily married to for 48 years. He is the loving father to his three sons: Mike and his wife, Becky; Chris and his wife, Lisa; and Brian and his wife, Stephanie. He was the proud grandfather to Katelyn, Addison, Noah, Tyler and Bella who meant the world to him.
He loved them to the moon and back. Not only was Bob a loving husband, supporting father and caring grandfather, he was a pillar in the community as well. He served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 66 Matawan, NJ for 35 years.
He was the President of the Maroon and Steel Club for Matawan High School Football for 10 years. He coached for 15 years for the Matawan Falcons and Matawan/Aberdeen Huskies Pop Warner Football Organizations. He was the President of the St. Joseph Little League for 5 years and coach for 10 years.
He also coached Hazlet/Matawan Youth Basketball for 10 years. Bob received the Man of the Year Award from Aberdeen Township in 1991. He was inducted into the Matawan Regional High School Hall of Fame in 2000.
Bob lived life to the fullest in everything he did. Bob will always be remembered by his passion for life, living life his way and service to others. His legacy will live on by all the lives he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at St. Clement’s RC Church, 172 Freneau Ave, Matawan, NJ 07747. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 10AM also at St. Clement’s RC Church. His cremation will be private.
