Obituary for Robert E. Scotford Jr. Robert E. Scotford, Jr., 89, of Mesa, Arizona, quietly passed away July 24, 2018, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. Born April 1, 1929, in Muskegon Michigan, where he lived and worked until he joined the U.S. Airforce in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, protecting his country in the Korean and Vietnam wars, the latter for which he was awarded a Bronze Star.

After his retirement from the military in 1973, he moved his family to Mesa. He was employed by the City of Mesa as a Warehouse Foreman for 20 years, retiring in 1993. Robert married the love of his life, Gladys Jean McIntyre on April 3, 1959; who he loved and cherished all the days of his life.

His family was the one thing he viewed as the most important purpose of his life. Robert was a man of honor, integrity, kindness, and unconditional love. To those who knew him will forever miss his fiery sense of humor, his incredible gift of conversation, and his amazing grill cooking.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys, daughters; Lori Weaver, Lisa Scotford-Stearman (Dwayne), his son Tanner, Lois Hanson (Scott), Lesley, sister Sally, nephew Robert, and 6 grandchildren, Devyn, Stephanye, Travis, Madison, Tyler, and Brockton. Preceding him in death were his parents Marie and Robert, and infant daughter, Linda Jean. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 2 p.m.; a viewing will be held one hour prior at Meldrum Mortuary & Crematory, 52 N. McDonald, Mesa, AZ 85201.
