Robert E. Shawen, II – Born April 14, 1942 in Dayton, OH. Bob passed away peacefully on February 13, 2019 after a courageous battle against pancreatic/liver cancer. Preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Shawen, I and his mother, Patricia (Mooney) Shawen.

Bob is survived by his brother John E. Shawen (Brenda) of Granbury, TX, his sister, Shannon Shawen Brooks (Jim) of Orlando, FL, his three nieces, Janet Shawen (Chad) of Englewood, FL, Pam Shawen of Arlington, TX and Samantha Brooks of Gainesville, FL and his two nephews, Steven Brooks (Rachel) of Winter Garden, FL and Matt Brooks of Ft. Myers, FL and many other great and great, great nephews and nieces who loved him very much. Bob graduated from Bishop Moore High School in 1960.

He joined the Orlando Fire Department in May of 1963 and retired after 26 years of service in 1989 having achieved the rank of Lieutenant. Bob received 7 commendations/awards for heroism and meritorious service during his long career as a paramedic and firefighter. Bob also served as a volunteer on the Killarney Volunteer Fire Department in Orlando for decades, having achieved the rank of Captain, and as a reserve deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for many years.

Bob was also very active in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Crescent City, FL and the Astor Moose Lodge where he served as an officer and on various committees. Bob is remembered for his big heart, always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends, his memorable parties, his sense of humor, his love of anything Irish and living life on his own terms. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 4001 Edgewater Dr., Orlando, FL 32804.
