Robert Emmett “Bob” Douglas, Jr. December 24, 1930 – March 14, 2019 Share this obituary Robert (Bob) Emmett Douglas, Jr passed away March 14, 2019 in his home at Lake Arrowhead, Waleska, GA. A service in celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 23rd at 2:00PM, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3125 Sewell Mill Road, Marietta GA, where he was a member and an elder. Bob was born in Corsicana TX on December 24, 1930 to Robert E Douglas Sr and Leila Marie Hart Douglas.

He graduated from Corsicana High School and then attended Navarro Junior College and Texas A & M University. During the Korean conflict, he joined the US Air Force and was stationed at Bainbridge Air Force Base, where he met and married Jane Hambrick, his wife of 66 years. After his discharge from the Air Force, he joined Jane’s dad in the grocery and fast food businesses.

He later owned and operated Douglas Insurance Agency for 30 years. He loved “”selling” and was many times the #1 agent for the life insurance companies he represented. He was also a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Roundtable for life insurance agents.

He and Jane moved to the Atlanta area in 1990, where he was employed by SunTrust and First Data Corporation, from which he retired. Survivors include his wife Jane; his sons Robert Emmett Douglas III, of Tallahassee FL, and James Hambrick Douglas Sr and his wife, Nan, of Lake Arrowhead, Waleska GA. Other survivors include his grandsons, James (Jimbo) Hambrick Douglas Jr of Kennesaw GA, William (Will) Robert Douglas of Canton GA, David Michael Douglas and his wife, Jessica, of Canton GA; his granddaughter, Amanda (Mandy) Douglas Eaton and husband, Steve, of Tallahassee FL; his great grandsons, Parker Douglas and Jaxon Douglas of Canton GA, Greyson Eaton of Tallahassee FL; nephews, Wallace Hambrick of Lawrenceville GA, Doug Hambrick and his husband, Victor De Jesus, of Stone Mountain GA, Temple Bowling and his wife, State Senator Janice Bowling, of Tullahoma TN, Steve Bowling and his wife, Shirley, of Huntsville AL; his nieces, Melissa Tubbs of Montgomery AL, Laura Steiner and her husband, John, of Montgomery AL; and several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Robert and Leila Douglas, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Joan Bowling, his grandson Robert (Bob) E Douglas IV, his nephew John Hambrick, and his brothers-in-law Wallace Hambrick and Wayne Hambrick. The family wishes to acknowledge and sincerely thank Bob’s care giver, Brenda Weathers, for her loving, compassionate care, and for her many kindnesses. They also want to thank the hospice team from Homestead Hospice for their devoted care.
