Robert Francis Lyvers, 71, of Bardstown passed away Thursday December 20, 2018 at his residence. He was born August 9, 1947 in Nelson County; he worked for Jim Beam for 12 years, Stitzel Weller for 15 years, Barton’s for 10 years, and Heaven Hill Distillery for 6 years, he retired from Heaven Hill, and was an Army Veteran. Robert’s life was like his golf game.

Not playing against others but always against yourself to make yourself better and enjoy life. Robert had many hobbies through the years including; horse riding, gardening, canning, wine making, motorcycle body work with artistic painting, Harley riding, and golf, golf, golf. He played golf every Sunday most of his adult life, and had a group of guys he traveled the U.S with playing golf and seeing the sights.

Being a true Renaissance man he was able to do, make, or manufacture anything. He had an unbelievable talent for putting things together. But his most important achievement was his friendships and family.

Many of his friendships have continued since childhood. Robert served proudly with the Battery C, 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery in Vietnam during 1968-1969. Robert said “I’ve lived a good life.

I’ve seen everything I wanted to see. I’ve done everything I wanted to do, I have the best family and friends anybody could imagine”. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Lyvers; mother, Marie Miles Lyvers; brothers, Tony Lyvers, Mike Lyvers, Randy Lyvers; and nephews, Luke Clark, Brian Hooper.

He is survived by his daughter, Vicci Lyvers Cecil; granddaughter, Whitney (Nick) Mattingly; grandson, Robert Cecil; two brothers, David (Carol) Lyvers, Tim Lyvers; two sisters, Debra (Mike) Bryant, Dianne Lyvers; five nephews, Rob Lyvers, Keith Lyvers, Kevin Bryant, Jeff Lyvers, Justin Clark; and four nieces, Lana Bryant, Beca Clark Gordon, Jill Lyvers, Jennifer Lyvers. His visitation will be 3-8 pm Friday December 21 and 9-11 am Saturday December 22 at Barlow Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
