Robert Garland Barbe, 85, of Fort Washington, Maryland, died on April 26, 2019 at the Charles County Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 22, 1934 in Purgitsville, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Faye Cunningham High Barbe and the late Claude Barbe. Robert grew up on Chert Mountain Orchard.

He served in the U. S. Air Force before being Honorably Discharged at the rank of Airman Second Class. Robert then worked for DC Water as an Engineer for 40 years before retiring. He also worked for Abe Pollin over the years, supporting the move of the Baltimore Bullets, to the Capital Center in Largo, Md.

, and at the Verizon Center. Robert was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a simple man who worked hard for his family and shared his kind, gentle manner towards everyone.

Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years Denah Janette Barbe; daughters Diane Lynette Barbe; Donna Michele Karabin(Christopher) siblings Edward Barbe, Kail Barbe, Wyndham Brake, Harlan Barbe, Johnny Barbe and Barbara Barbe. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 1PM at South Potomac Church, 4915 Crain Highway, White Plains, Maryland 20695. A private interment will be held at a later date.
