Robert Harold Carpenter was born September 10, 1928 in Englewood Colorado. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on November 5, 2018. Bob started his life in the Denver area but traveled the world and ended his journey back in Englewood.

He was the third and youngest child born to Harold and Grace Carpenter. Bob graduated from South High School, attended the University of Denver for two years, then finished his formal baker’s education at a trade school in Chicago. Bob married Jeanne Hazelhurst from Denver in 1949.

They had four children together. First Cathy (Hans) then Michael (Beth), Cristi (Andres Teene), and Scott (Shelley). Bob worked in the family business.

His parents owned a production bakery called American Lady in Denver. After numerous other endeavors he and Jeanne bought and ran Child’s Pastry in University Hills for twenty-five years. Under their management Child’s Pastry grew to become “the bakery” in Denver.

Child’s Pastry became popular and renowned for the production of fine and unique wedding cakes. Bob would sometimes deliver as many as 50-75 wedding cakes on a given weekend. They also expanded the bakery to include a cafe where pastries and light lunches were served, which was very popular in the area.

Bob and Jeanne became fond of travel toward the end of their ownership of Child’s. After selling Child’s Pastry, Bob started Esprit Cruises and he and Jeanne led tours around the globe, sharing what they loved with hundreds of clients, friends and family. He loved taking photos and videos on their many travels.

Bob was active in many organizations and charities. Most notably the Kiwanis club and Shriners. He enjoyed golfing and skied in his beloved Rocky Mountains until he was seventy years of age.

He was a dedicated Denver Broncos fan. His grandchildren remember fondly how he enjoyed sitting on his patio reading the newspaper and listening to music while they played in the swimming pool. Bob loved his 5 Grandchildren (Cass, Seth, Per David, Stefan, and Bryce) and his 3 great grandchildren (Ella, Thane, and Soren).

On his ninetieth birthday in September of this year Bob was happy to be surrounded by family, including his wife Jeanne, his children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren all of whom were gathered from far and near to celebrate with him. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, November 12th, 2018 at 1:00 PM at ST MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS CHURCH. (1400 S. University Boulevard, Denver, CO.
