OBITUARY Robert Herman Appelbaum January 29, 1921 – September 6, 2018 Robert Herman Appelbaum passed on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Houston, Texas he was born on January 29, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri, the eldest of two sons to Herman C. and Colletta H. (Sosenheimer) Appelbaum . Bob was raised and attended grade and high school in Webster Groves, Missouri. He served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII, mainly as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Officer.

He sis not serve overseas, but was in the B-29 Flight Engineer program when the atomic bomb was dropped. Bob married Jane Cecilia Roberts of Alma, Michigan in 1946, and in 1949 he graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla with a degree in Mining Engineering and Geology and was employed as a petroleum geologist/engineer by various major and independent oil and gas companies along the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas Gulf Coast for nearly 40 years. In Retirement, Bob continued his hobbies as a light aircraft pilot and self appointed family genealogist.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert B. Appelbaum and granddaughters Amanda K. Appelbaum and Lisa A. Appelbaum, he is preceded in death his wife Jane and a brother, Paul H. Appelbaum.
