Robert Melvin Humiston, Jr. Robert (Bob) Humiston, 70 of Grand Island died Monday, April 29, 2019 at CHI St. Elizabeth in Lincoln. Services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 7th at All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate.

Bur-ial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the US Army and United Vet-erans Honor Guards. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

A memorial fund will be established in memory of Bob. Bob was born July 11, 1948 to Robert and Virginia (Jankovitz) Humiston of Grand Island. Bob attended pub-lic schools, and graduated from Northwest High School in 1966.

He participated in several sports at school—quarterback of the football team, forward on the basketball team and pole vaulting for track. Bob attended Milford Junior College before being drafted into the Army in 1968. Bob held the rank of SP-5, radio communications specialist, in Vietnam; stationed at the Tan Son Nhut Air Base outside of Saigon.

Bob was discharged in 1969, returning home to Grand Island as part of the first troop withdrawals. Prior to being deployed Bob married Judy Stoltenberg in September 1968. Upon his return from Vietnam, he graduated from Southeast Community College in 1972 with a degree in electronics.

Bob and Judy had three children. He was a small business manager or owner for most of his life, including Lee’s Radio & TV, Cur-tis Mathis Entertainment Center, Budget Rental and Rental Express. He also served eight years on the Hall County Board of Supervisors.

Bob married Judy Spilinek on October 28, 1995, and became step-father to three children. Bob and Judy lived in Grand Island before moving to the acreage where Bob grew up just north of Grand Island. Bob en-joyed the small farm he shared with Judy, and his numerous animals, including miniature horses, don-keys, llamas, a pig, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, dogs and cats.

Bob loved, loved, loved fishing and was a lifelong fan of baseball. He was also thankful to have the opportunity to visit Washing-ton, D.C. on the May 2018 “Hero’s Flight”. Bob is survived by his wife, Judy; children Susan Humiston of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sharon (Mark) Dreher of Central City and Kevin (Amanda) Humiston of Parkville, Missouri; step-children, Tina Spilinek, Travis Spilinek and TJ Spilinek, all of Grand Island; siblings Linda (Mike) Baily-Rotolo of Las Vegas, Neva-da, Dee (Mike) Garrett and Charles (Edie) Humiston of Grand Island; and grandchildren Dylan, Jenae, An-thony, Andrej, Megan, Ben, Carissa, Jeremy, Savannah, Jordan, Timmy and Olivia.
