Bob was born March 28, 1925 in Ottoville, Ohio to Frank and Catherine (Bensman) Hohlbein, who both preceded him in death.
On October 26, 1946 he married Wanda (Mesker) Hohlbein who preceded him in death on May 11, 2017 after 70 ½ years of marriage. He is survived by a son, William ‘Bill’ Hohlbein of Indianapolis, Indiana; a daughter, Lisa (William ‘Bill’) Mullenhour of Lima; and a granddaughter, Lauren. He is survived by sisters, Rita Mae Pohlman, Mary Lou Gerdeman, and Dolly Hemker of Delphos, Valita Lammers of Kalida, brothers Dick Hohlbein of Lima, Don (Janice) Hohlbein and Jerry (Angie) Hohlbein of Ottoville; two brothers-in-law, Joe (Shirley) Mesker of Ft.
Jennings, and Jim (Mary) Mesker of Delphos, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Velma Ricker, Alice Meyer, an infant twin brother and sister, Carl and Carol Hohlbein; sisters-in law, Dorothy Hohlbein and Sue Hohlbein, brothers-in-law, John Ricker, Virgil Meyer, Melvin Pohlman, Carl Hemker, Paul Lammers and Richard Gerdeman. Bob was a graduate of Ottoville High School, Chicago University and Northwestern Business College. He was a proud World War II Veteran, having served his country as a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Signal Corps. stationed in Italy from 1944-1946.
He was honored to be on the “Honor Flight” for Veterans in 2009. Bob retired from the Bostwick Braun Company in 1990 as a Vice President of Warehouse Operations after many years of selling and traveling in the hardware sector. Bob was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
He was affiliated with the American Legion, V.F.W., Delphos Rotary Club, former President of the Delphos City Council and Delphos Jaycees. Bob enjoyed playing his harmonicas while spending time in Florida with Wanda and playing for nursing home residents in the Delphos area. His Farewell Services.
… Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Dennis Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Monday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E.
