Robert L. Traphagen Sr., 86, of Middletown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2018 at the Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. Robert, fondly known as “Bob”, was born on June 17, 1932 in West Orange, grew up in Cedar Grove and moved to Quantico, Virginia after marrying his lovely wife, Louise, in 1951. In 1957, they moved to Hazlet, New Jersey, where they raised their family and later settled in Middletown, New Jersey.

Bob was a retired Salesman for Straub Motors in Keyport, was an honored Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was proud to serve as a Marine M.P. He was also a dedicated member of the Hazlet First Aid Squad for 14 years and a devoted fan of both the New York Giants and New York Yankees. Bob loved traveling in his motor home with family and spent many winters in Florida escaping the harsh winters in New Jersey.

He was a family man, disciplined, enjoyed a healthy lifestyle, loved gardening, and was an avid runner. He will be remembered for his many funny sayings. Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Louise, his brother, William Traphagen Jr., and his son Michael Traphagen.

He is survived by his adoring son, Robert L. Traphagen Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Toms River, New Jersey, his loving daughters, Donna J. Hadel and her husband. Joe, of Middletown, New Jersey, Nancy Schork, and her husband, Dale, of Hazlet, New Jersey, and Barbara Taylor, and her husband, Rich, of Hazlet, New Jersey, his cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Christine, William, Scott, Lyndsey, Connor, Kevin, Jonathan, Richie, Josh, Henry, Madison, and Morgan, his adored great grandchildren, Sophia, Emily, Dean, Rachel, and Elizabeth, and his dear cousin Leigh Smith. Robert will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and Friends are invited to visit Sunday, September 9th from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday morning, September 10th from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35, Hazlet, New Jersey, 07730. A prayer service will be offered on Monday morning at the funeral home at approximately 10:15 AM.

Interment will follow at 12:30 PM at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ, 08562. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Robert to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, www. philarmh.org, would be greatly appreciated.
