Robert Lee Saxton Jr. February 21, 1949 – December 17, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Robert Lee Saxton Jr. passed away at his home on Monday, December 17, 2018 in Gig Harbor, Washington at the age of 69. Robert – better known as Bob or Lee to friends and family – was born February 21, 1949 in Long Beach, CA to Robert and Edith Saxton. Bob grew up in southern California and graduated from San Marino High School in 1967.

He was a past Master Counselor for DeMolay and a Marine. He joined Laura Matthes in marriage on July 16, 1983 in Granada Hills, California. Shortly thereafter, they had their first child, Andrew, and moved up to Gig Harbor, Washington where a couple years later they had their second child, Aleen.

Professionally, Bob was a jeweler for 30 years managing Zale’s and Weisfield’s jewelry stores in California and Washington before transitioning into real estate investment and home improvement. He was a member of the Elks. In his early retirement and free time, he loved ballroom dancing with his wife Laura, traveling, home projects with family and friends, and entertaining whenever possible.

He always had a great eye, whether he used it for remodeling, cabinetry, or painting. He particularly loved the ocean, specifically the Oregon Coast and Ocean Shores, where he and Laura had recently purchased a beautiful beach home that they’ve been remodeling with close family friends. Some of his other favorite things included Hawaiian shirts, Scotch, working in his yard, and sitting by the fireplace.

Bob was always full of laughter and a good story (some told over and over! ). He was an exceptional father, husband, and friend and will always be remembered for his love, kindness, and fairness.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; daughter, Ali; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Cassandra; Laura’s parents, Jan and Dianne Matthes; and brothers, Terry and Jim and their families. A celebration of life open-house will be held at the Saxton home on Sunday, January 6th 2019 from 1-4pm.
