OBITUARY Robert Homer Armendariz January 11, 1937 – July 14, 2018 Robert “Bobby” Homer Armendariz, 81, of Houston, TX passed away on July 14th, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Mercedes, TX to Rev. Ruben and Beatrice Armendariz on January 11, 1937.

Robert was a graduate of Lanier High School in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Alvin Community College where he earned his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice in addition to attending his beloved Texas A&M University. Robert married Hermelinda Nunez on July 3, 1982 in Houston, TX.

He retired as a Captain of corrections with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after 20 years of faithful service. Bobby was an avid golfer, hunter, and fishermen who loved the outdoors. Since a very young age, Bobby grew up serving the church.

He was a Deacon and book keeper for Juan Marcos Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX before moving to San Antonio where he became a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church . Robert most recently served on the board of directors with Proyecto Amistad. This ministry would take him deep into the mountains of Mexico where the organization would minister to the people.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Ruben and Beatrice Armendariz. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Hermelinda Nunez Armendariz; his daughter, Laurie Armendariz Medina (Lloyd); grandchildren, Lloyd Medina Jr, (Shannon), Roy Medina (Liz), Angelinda Beatriz Medina, Anisa Milinda Medina; great-grandchildren, Thaeden McDaniel, Andewyn McDaniel, Ozwald Medina, Nikolas Medina; his siblings, Minerva Pierce (d.

Richard), Ruben Armendariz (Rose), Ruth Bernstein (d. Gerald), Sylvia Hanson (David), Linda Hirsch (Peter), Michael Armendariz; and multiple nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Spivey, Ruben Armendariz Jr., Mark Armendariz, Rob Trevino, Lloyd Medina Jr (Thaeden McDaniel), Roy Medina, and Martin Belleza.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 18th, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Castle Ridge Mortuary; 8008 W Military Dr.; San Antonio, TX 78227 with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 p.m. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 20th, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Brookside Funeral Home family chapel (13747 Eastex Fwy. ; Houston, TX 77039) with a prayer service to be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow immediately. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Proyecto Amistad and/or Shiriners Children’s Hospital in Robert’s name.

Robert loved being with family. Think of happy moments spent in his company and know that you are family.
