Robert R. Smith Sr. of Warren passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 3:50 p.m. in Mercy Health – St. Joseph Warren Hospital. He was 79. Robert was born in Gypsy, WV on March 17, 1940, the son of the late Kenneth and Lois Jones Smith.

Mr. Smith retired as a foreman from Nelson Tree Service and earlier in his career he held the title of a line clearance tree trimmer. He was a member of the Naus Club Warren, OH and was a regular at Shorty’s Place Bar and Grill. He enjoyed many days by his favorite fishing holes and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, or watching his favorite NASCAR racer.

Robert also was an accomplished musician, playing guitar in a country music band called Bob and The Aces. Robert proudly served our country in the United States Army Reserves. His wife, Sandra Kay “Sandy” Moore Smith, passed away on June 4, 2015.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Tina (Ronald) Paden of Warren and Leona (Ron) Chapline of Niles; a son, Robert R. Smith Jr. (Brenda) of Niles; 3 sisters, Dolores Ipock, Alice Peyatt, and Lou Spears; 3 brothers, Kenneth, Bill, and Jim Smith; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Nancy Smith and Ethel Gonzalez. Friends and family may view the obituary and send condolences by visiting www.
