Robert T. Hayes “Bob”, age 79, of Claymont, DE passed away on January 22, 2019. He was born on March 6, 1939 to the late Millard and Evelyn Hayes. Bob was retired from Dupont Chambers Works and the Air National Guard.

Bob was an avid NASCAR fan with Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver. He was also a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. At one time he was known for his unbelievable vegetable gardens and canning skills.

Bob was also predeceased by his wife, Kathleen “Kay”; daughter, Patricia; son, Mark; and sister, Harriet. Bob is survived by his daughter, Kathy Sammons and son, Robert. Also surviving are brothers and sisters in law, Bob DeGregory, Frank Matarese, Joe and Sandee Matarese, Jimmy and Eileen Matarese, Theresa Longobardi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., where a Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
