ROBERT’s Obituary Robert Thomas Bannon, 70, of Lower Saucon Township died Friday, March 22, 2019 at VNA Hospice House of St. Luke’s, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of Janet L. (Lummis) Bannon. Robert was born in Philadelphia on Sept.
27, 1948 to the late Robert James and Anna Marie (Rowe) Bannon. He worked for 31 years at AT&T, AT&T Federal Systems, Bell Laboratories, AT&T Submarine Systems-District Manager/ Distinguished Member of Technical Staff Supervisor/Division Manager/Director. He owned and operated Bannon International Consulting LLC (1998-2011), S4 Intelligence LLC (2002-2009) and Dullahan Wraith Holdings LLC (2002-Present).
Throughout his career he specialized in communications engineering, oceanic engineering, underwater vehicle design and operations, sonar, deep submergence recovery, homeland security/maritime security consultant and being an expert witness for underwater telecom and fiberoptics and the oil and gas industries. Robert was a faithful member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, Hellertown, where he was a vestry member. He was a former vestry member at Christ Church E.C., Stroudsburg, and St. Dunstan’s E.C., Succasunna, N.J.
He was a member of and fellow at the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), a member of the Oceanic Engineering Society (OES), AdCom Chair for Submarine Cable Systems, a member of Homeland and Maritime Security, IEEE Fellow Committee, president (2006-2007) and senior past president of Sensors Council and a technical advisor for the Merchant Marines. He was also a member of the Maritime Technology Society and ASME and a life member of the National Defense Industrial Association. SURVIVORS In addition to his loving wife of 51 years; children: Kara Lynn of East Stroudsburg, Bonnie Ann wife of William T. Adamski of Saylorsburg, Eileen M. of Marshalls Creek; sister: Patricia Ann Slough of Panama City, Fla.
; grandchildren: Jacob William, Joshua Michael and Rylan Taylor Adamski. SERVICE Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at his church. The calling hour will be followed by the Burial Office and Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m. at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 735 Delaware Ave.
, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Arrangements by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.
