OBITUARY Robert Walter Whiteacre III August 21, 1922 – January 29, 2019 WHITEACRE III, Robert Walter, 96, of Belleair, FL. , went peacefully to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ on January 29, 2019. Robert was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 21, 1922 to parents Robert W. Whiteacre Jr. of Boston and Grace Rapson of Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Robert graduated from Newton High School in 1941. After graduating, he proudly entered the Navy and served his country as a submariner on the USS Ice Fish during WW II. Following the war, Robert graduated from Northeastern University in 1946 with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering.

That same year, he was married to Nellie Litwin (d) of Bridgeport, CT for over 60 years. Together they worked to raise their family in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. During that time, Robert pursued a career in chemical engineering and was awarded several patents that pioneered new technology breakthroughs in energy research.

For many years he served his church and community as a vestry member and treasurer of All Saints Episcopal Church in Rosedale, PA. He was a meals on wheels volunteer and volunteered as a tax advisor. Throughout his life, Robert enjoyed exploring his love of God’s creation on his many camping trips, sailing adventures, long hiking treks, and a glorious last golf cart ride.

Robert was proud of his family, sons; Robert William (Barbara), Jeffrey (Susan), grandchildren; Michael (Tiffany), Jennifer Moore (David), and great-grandson; Matthew Whiteacre. Later in life (at 89 years young), Robert found love again with Mary Harris of Belleair, Fl. Their wedding was described as “the most energetic wedding ever!

” Together Bob and Mary shared a wonderful 7+ years of married life. Bob loved Mary’s family, Norm II, Sally Fisher (John), John (Melissa) and their children. His family motto “strength by faith” served him well.

He will be missed dearly by his wife Mary, his family, his church friends, his dear Friday night Sundowner friends, and his faithful Labrador retriever, Scout.
