Roberta Elliott-Collins was born May 02, 1945 to Gloria Brewer and Barney Mills. She was raised in the church and accepted Christ at an early age. Roberta was raised on Detroit’s Eastside, although she only had one brother, Gary, her cousins became all the extra siblings she could ever need!

Roberta was educated at Cass Technical High School until she left to begin her family. She worked at several jobs during this time, including Michigan Bell where she stayed for many years. In 1982 she returned and finished her high school education and went on to WCCD’s nursing program.

After her Nursing degree was complete, she decided that family preservation was her calling. She attended Marygrove College and received her Bachelor of Social Work. She went to work for Diversified Youth Services as a Family Preservation Specialist.

She remained active in her community. She was a member of the NAACP, NABSW, as well as a member of the PTO for every school her children attended. On November 27, 1990 she married her longtime partner Noel Collins.

She is preceded to glory by her Father, Barney Mills. Her mother Gloria Brewer. Her brother Gary Brewer.

Her Aunt and Uncle, Barbara and Pledge Malone, who served as a second set of parents, and her daughter Phyllis and son Kevin. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Noel Collins, five children Barney, Thurston (Renee), Emilio (Stacy), Kyeesha(Brandon) and Deon, five foster children Floyd, Matthew (Lucinda), Cornelius, Brenda, Shanieyah, grandchildren Nicole, Brandon, and Ashley (Barney), Takiayest, Kawanna, Tishman, Xavier, Felten, Jamila, Jessica, and Cierra (Phyllis), Zane and Ashly (Thurston), Miyah, Emilio Jr, and Imani (Emilio), DeAngelo and Jamal (Kyeesha), Ashleigh (Deon), Mrs Jacqueline Mills and her extra “siblings”, Elizabeth Jones (Raymond), Steven Malone (Lise), Nancy Malone, Larry Malone Sr (Wanda), Linda Hubbard, Pledge (Poochie) Malone Jr, Earline (Beanie) Malone, David Malone, Rita Henderson, Barbara Jean Agee (Lenward), Stanley Malone (Alfrieda) and a host of other family members by blood and by choice!
