Born in Avalon, Roderick “Rod or Roddy” Wheeler Scott, Jr. of Monroeville, age 59, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Rod attended primary and middle school in Avalon before graduating from Northgate High School in 1978. In high school, Rod ran track, played football, and excelled in basketball.

He lead the Northgate Flames to a WPIAL Championship Title his senior year. Rod then attended and graduated from Duquesne University in 1983 on a full athletic scholarship and played basketball while earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. His undeniable gift of gab and pleasantly witty charm set him up for numerous years in various sales positions throughout the City of Pittsburgh.

Starting off as a proud Encyclopedia salesman straight out of college to landing his dream job as a top notch pharmaceutical sales representative, Rod’s climb to the top in the workforce included many stops: Bell Atlantic, PNC Bank, Pittsburgh Brewing Company, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Rod will be remembered by everyone including his longtime friends, coaches, coworkers, former players, and of course, his many golf buddies. He is survived by an entire family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rod’s immediate family will represent him with great pride as he was the faithful son of Gale Edmunds Scott and the late Roderick Wheeler Scott, Sr. Supportive brother of Audrey R. Scott and Eric Keith Scott. Beloved father of Shayla Nicole Scott and Tyler Bruce Scott. Devoted grandfather of Maverick Blake Laboy.

Loving fiance of Janice Bonneville. Caring former husband of Jennifer Bruce. Admirable uncle to Chelsea Bruce-McCrommon, Carmen Bruce, and Courteney Bruce.
