Rodney’s Obituary Rodney Eugene “Bud” McKee, 68, of Springfield, passed away on January 29, 2019. Rod was born on July 3, 1950, in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Roger L. and Ruth M. (Scheesley) McKee. He attended Battle Creek Public Schools.

Rod served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from October 23, 1968, to November 10, 1970. He was employed by the City of Springfield as Director of Public Works. He retired after 18 years of service.

Rod enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching sports. He married the former Susan Cichy on August 20, 1988. She survives him.

He is also survived by his sons Rodney McKee II, Jeffrey McKee, Sean (Angie) McKee all of Battle Creek and Shannon (Ashley) McKee-Thompson of South Carolina. Rod also leaves his stepsons Kenneth Baxter of Battle Creek and Troy (Cathy) Baxter of Hickory Corners, Robin (Rick) Damer of Oneida, Illinois, Emilie Baxter Ohio and a special son Brock (Shannon) Thompson of Battle Creek. Rod also leaves four grandchildren, Mercedes Akers, Mariah McKee-Akers, Connor McKee-Thompson and Avery McKee-Thompson.

15 step-grandchildren, many step-great grandchildren, brother Richard McKee and sisters Rose McKee and Rebecca (Phil) Jacobs. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert, Randy, and Ronald McKee. A committal with military honors at Ft.

Custer National Cemetery is pending.
