El segundo de cuatro hijos del matrimonio de Genovevo (+) y Praxedis (+) Garza. Paso una gran parte de su vida en Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, México, donde contrajo matrimonio en 1965 con Ma.

Guadalupe Ornelas. Fue un padre ejemplar para su hijo Jacinto y su esposa Bonny Garza y su hija Praxedis y su esposo Marcelo Pérez. Un gran abuelo para sus nietos Rodolfo y su esposa Cristina Garza, y Daniel y Alejandro Pérez, Paola y su esposo Eliel Cantú Jr. Los últimos años de su vida se llenaron de aun más alegría al recibir a sus bisnietos Emma y Edelyn Cantú, y Arianna, Arlette y Rodolfo Garza Jr. También le sobreviven su hermano Reginaldo y su esposa Aurelia Garza, al igual que sobrinos y sobrinas que el amaba grandemente.
