Roger Reinhardt, age 87, of rural LeSueur passed away on Sunday, May 5th, at Mayo Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in LeSueur. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

Interment, with military honors, will be in Mound Cemetery in LeSueur. In lieu of flowers family would prefer memorials to Zion U.C.C. or to donor’s choice. He was born on June 12th, 1931 in Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County to Melvin and Violet (Nagel) Reinhardt.

He married Joan Shattuck on June 28, 1952 at Zion E & R Church in LeSueur. He was drafted into the Army on February 5, 1953, was a teacher of tactics at Camp Roberts, CA and was discharged from Fort Lewis, WA in 1954. He returned to farming and farmed the rest of his life.

Roger was an active member of Zion United Church of Christ his entire life, working with Youth Fellowship, serving on the Church Council, doing numerous woodworking projects, including the pulpit and continued to be an active volunteer up to the time of his death. Roger was proud of being named the Sibley County Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1973. He served on the Board of Directors of the Le Sueur Co-op, the Le Sueur Farmers Elevator Board (16 yrs.

), serving as President for 4 yrs. He was a former 20-year member of the Sibley County Planning and Zoning Board, Henderson Township Supervisor, member of the Minnesota Valley Hospital Board, Henderson American Legion Post # 74 and Union Lodge # 45 Masonic Lodge. Roger enjoyed fishing, various hobbies including wood working, gardening and coffee with the guys at Holiday.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan; daughters, Kathy (Kate) Reinhardt of Robbinsdale and Karen Benson of St. Paul; 2 grandchildren, Olivia and Henry Benson; sister, Lucille (John Schulter) Kahle of LeSueur; sisters-in-law, Jan and Sylvia Reinhardt of LeSueur; and nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don & Connie Reinhardt and brother-in-law, Dick Kahle.
