Born March 22, 1946 to Quentin Towles and Mary Grimes Towles in Austin, Minnesota, Roger grew up with three older sisters and attended Pacelli High school. Shortly after graduating in 1964, Roger moved to California.

He started a career in lithography where he was a long-time employee of Westgate Press and Madison St Press in Oakland and retired in 2008. Roger married Margaret “Peggy” LaDue in March 1976 and they had a son, Christopher. Together they raised Christopher and Jeffrey Lucas (stepson) for over 12 years after which Roger became widowed.

He was a devoted and hard-working single father, coach, and mentor to Christopher and Jeffrey. Roger and his birth child, John Glover (separated by adoption), established a loving relationship in John’s adulthood. Roger is remembered as a selfless family patriarch, tech enthusiast, outdoorsman, and loving grandfather.

Roger joins his wife Peggy (1987) and son Jeffrey (2017) in heaven. Roger is survived by his sons Christopher Towles (Albany, CA) with wife Nicole, and John Glover (Pleasanton, CA) with wife Carissa; Sisters Patricia Sanderson (Appleton, WI), Barbara Citrano (Berkeley, CA), Marsha Harbin (Racine, WI); Sisters-in-law Pat LaDue (Mendocino, CA), and Kathy LaDue (Discovery Bay, CA); Niece Leanne LaDue (Mendocino, CA); and 9 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 19th at 10:30 am at the Cathedral of Christ the Light Mausoleum (Oakland).

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org/donate, “Give in Memory”).
