Rollin “Joe”‘s Obituary Rollin “Joe” Bruce Barnett went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 13th, 2019. Rollin was born on March 24th, 1923 near Linden, Iowa, to Bruce and Florence Barnett. He was the youngest of six children.

Rollin graduated from Linden High School in 1940 and started farming. He continued this occupation until his retirement in 1991. On December 28, 1947, Rollin married Velma Cook and to this union were born four daughters: Shirley, Sheryl, Sharla and Sheila.

Rollin was a member of the Friends Church where he taught Sunday School for many years, served on various committees and was faithful in attendance. He had a special love of music and sang in men’s quartets in Iowa, Oregon and Arizona, where he and his wife spent several winters. While farming in Iowa, Rollin was active in the Dallas County Farm Bureau, the Zoning Board, Farm Service Company and the F.M.H.A.

Board. Rollin and his wife moved to Salem, Oregon in 1991, to be closer to their family. After his retirement, he took up woodworking as a hobby and made hundreds of wooden toys, which he gave away to the Union Gospel Mission, neighbors, family and the church children.

Rollin loved his family and always enjoyed all of them coming home for the holidays and visits. Rollin is survived by his wife, Velma, of 71 years. He is also survived by his daughters: Shirley Flores, Keizer, Oregon; Sheryl (Rob) Wunder, Seattle, Washington; Sharla Barnett, Portland, Oregon and Sheila Barnett, Seattle, Washington.

Four grandchildren: Sev (Michelle) Flores, Beaverton, Oregon; Angela Flores, Keizer, Oregon; Robbie Wunder and Joey Wunder of Los Angeles, California. Two great-granddaughters: Victoria and Elena Flores and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 19th, 2019 at 11:00 am at South Salem Friends Church.

Lunch will be served following the service in the fellowship hall. Private internment will be in the afternoon at the Friends Cemetery in Newberg, Oregon. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Salem Friends Church or the Union Gospel Mission in Salem, Oregon.
