A graveside service and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Ronald Allen Swenson Sr., age 76, passed away peacefully at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna, Minnesota. He was born on October 1, 1941 to parents Russell and Pearl (Madson) Swenson in Blooming Prairie.

He grew up in Blooming Prairie, where he attended elementary through high school and was a member of First Lutheran Church. He moved to Austin, Minnesota and married his first wife, Jolene. Four children were born to this union and they later divorced.

Life brought him to Rockford, Illinois where he held a thirty-plus year career at the Chrysler Belvidere Assembly Plant. After his retirement from the plant, Ron drove for UPS for a while. In 2008, he moved home to Minnesota due to illness.

He enjoyed playing cards and bingo in his free time. He is survived by his children, Ronald Jr. (Alice) Swenson, Jody Swenson, Richard Swenson; grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Pat) Swenson of Faribault, David (Rita) Swenson of Albert Lea, Dennis (Laura) Esplan of Windom; as well as several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Swenson and Pearl Swenson Esplan; son, Rodney Swenson; and sister, Darla (William) Bailey.
